In 1967 Brad's parents David and Jo Winkelmann moved to Arlington, Virginia from the Midwest. David was employed with the Federal Government, and Jo worked to keep the family unit intact and taught home economics at Bowie High School. Shortly after their arrival, they fell in love with the area, and in 1970 David and Jo Winkelmann formed "Winkelmann Properties" with the intent of investing in real estate within the Northern Virginia area. David and Jo not only acquired properties in Northern Virginia, but ultimately acquired properties as far west as Blacksburg, Virginia.
Growing up in Arlington, Virginia, David and Jo's twin sons Brad and Jeff, and their daughter Jennifer (now Jennifer Chamish) loved to assist in the process of buying, renovating, landscaping, and preparing the investment homes for occupancy. Brad especially loved the manual labor and working with his hands to improve the properties. These early years of having fun, working as a family, and working as a team, fostered the love Brad has for real estate that has become so profound today.
Jennifer attended Virginia Tech and earned her B.S. Degree in Psychology in 1992. She immediately moved to Baltimore and worked in the sales and marketing field with such well known companies as Nordstrom and Arthur Andersen. In December of 2001, she married Greg Chamish, Owner of Maryland Window and Siding Systems, Inc. a company that specializes in replacement windows, roofing, siding, and the construction of beautiful custom decks.
Jeff attended Virginia Tech and earned his B.S. Degree in Finance in 1999. He immediately moved to Falls Church, Virginia and began to put his degree to work, establishing his career in finance within the banking industry. Jeff also assists Brad from time to time with the upkeep of Brad's website and often consults with Brad on financial matters.
Brad attended Virginia Tech and earned his B.S. Degree in Sociology in 1996. Having become great friends with a number of Arlington County Police Officers throughout High School and College, he developed an interest in police work. Ultimately, Brad attended graduate school in Criminal Justice. Brad worked as a City Police Officer in both Ocean City Maryland and Dallas County Texas.
After six years as a decorated police officer, Brad decided to follow in his mother and father's footsteps to pursue a career in real estate. Brad quickly found that his prior career in law enforcement and his career in real estate were parallel in many aspects. Brad successfully transitioned into real estate as a successful negotiator who knows that attention to detail, follow up, and the ability to communicate are paramount in any successful endeavor.
Brad began his operations with the knowledge learned from Winkelmann Properties and ultimately incorporated his own company, "Winkelmann Properties LLC" in February of 2002. After researching all of the top real estate brokerage firms, he decided the worldwide presence and impeccable reputation of Coldwell Banker would create a powerful alliance. Brad approached Coldwell Banker and both companies decided to immediately establish a working relationship. Brad grew his following and continued his dedication to individual, thoughtful representation, and swiftly worked his way to be the #2 agent by volume in the Arlington Coldwell Banker office in both 2006 and 2007.
As a result of Brad's success and no-nonsense reputation in the industry, he found himself heavily recruited by many local real estate firms. On January 12th, 2008, Brad sat down with the well respected owner of RE/MAX. Immediately during their discussion, Brad was impressed by the high value RE/MAX places on technology, and being ahead of the technology curve. Brad clearly understood how the best most progressive technology would allow him to offer the best most efficient services to his clients. Brad was so impressed with the professionalism and technological ability of RE/MAX, he joined RE/MAX on January 17, 2008!
Operating under the RE/MAX Allegiance brokerage umbrella, Brad proudly serves the Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, and Fairfax areas of Northern Virginia.
